Mat Pilates
Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that aims to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility. There are many forms of Pilates which involve using different types of equipment and movements.
Mat Pilates classes are one form that we offer at The Toll House, and involves a strengthening and lengthening form of exercise that focuses on your core muscles while also training your arms and legs.
With Mat Pilates, your body weight acts as the resistance opposed to using equipment. This teaches you to be in full control of your body and places an emphasis on controlling your muscles during exercises.
The great thing about Mat Pilates classes is that they be modified for any age, body, or fitness level. It doesn’t matter if you are an expert in Pilates or are just starting out, because every exercise can be modified to decrease or increase the level of challenge/resistance on the body.
Pilates is a mind, body, and spirit practice with benefits that include:
- improved posture
- improved coordination and balance
- increased lung capacity
- Increased concentration and focus
- stress management
- injury prevention.
Although Mat Pilates can be done at home, working out with a trained Pilates instructor during Mat Pilates classes ensures you receive the correct guidance throughout your workout.
So, to get the full experience out of your workout, join one of our amazing Pilates instructors as they guide you through the movements in our brand new Pilates Studio at The Toll House.
